A brand new set of the embattled Oklahoma Condition Department of Health shows the company can reduce as much as one-third of their budget. The report arrives following the agency “misspent” a minimum of $$ 30 million.
“The report shows the department of health can help to save huge amount of money through a mix of cuts to services and slashing jobs. We all know there were lots of controls which were not in position which are being set up. Standards,” stated Interim Health Director Preston Doerflinger. “There would be a general indifferent approach here.”
And it is that indifferent approach that Doerflinger stated accounts for the misspending.
The biggest number of cuts come by means of layoffs, 198 of these to become exact. Doerflinger doesn’t expect more.
“I do not think, according to current actions we have taken, that you will see more and more people losing their jobs,” stated Doerflinger.

There might be some shifting of positions though.
The company also intends to cut child abuse prevention programs. That may be a tough sell. Based on condition statute, “The Child Abuse Prevention Fund will be used …for funding grants and contracts for child abuse and neglect prevention programs and services…”
Besides, Sherry Fair of Parent Promise, which contracted using the condition to avoid child abuse, stated prevention saves taxpayers money over time.
“You realize, they are the kids which come to college not ready to learn. They are the kids who eventually have disciplinary problems. They are able to finish in the Oklahoma juvenile system or they are able to finish in adult corrections,” stated Fair.
“The thing is not lost on me.” Doerflinger stated, “And we’re…we are certainly still in times of crisis management though.”
